Out and about part two or as ve say in Norsk Two.
After lunch we go for a walk to Asker Hus and visit the Resistance museum. This takes 3 hours and it was facinating. Tired out tried to do a geo cache but it was gone so stopped for a Ol in stead. returned to the good ship Kalinka1 had a drink and enjoyed the scenery.
Got up Fri. July 12. took the Tram to Vigelandsparken and had a walk in the park and oohed and awed all the sculptures while adroitly dodging all the tourists. Went off to his museum and and looked at some of his other works and molds. a well spent morning.
Got underway around 1230 for Oscarborg. ( a fortress on an Island at the narrows in the Oslo fijord) Arrived there around 1630 did the slide in between two other boats while's juggling a stern line and trusting someone will catch the bow before the embarrasing thump. this all takes place in the blink of an eye and works flawlessly.(wait for part two the leaving)
Oscarborg is the site of an old fortress that guards the approaches to Oslo. There is one large Battery of large guns on the South island. it was two of these guns that took the German Heavy Cruiser Blucher under fire on April 1940. The first two shots were right on the money and set the ship on fire and then it was hit by Torpedos also fired from the fortress. The ship sunk in 200 metres of water with the loss of close to a 1,000 men. It is still leaking fuel oil.
We did the walk about thing and then decided to leave for Hyggen again. Wind blowing out of the South about force 3, As we get some lines off two boats decide to come in and tie next to us taking up all the Oh,,,, room, there is mis communication between the fore deck and the helm, Stern line let go and it jams! bow lines let go bow swings to the right stern still caught, use reverse get mooring post between outboard and radar post, Now have big audience!! finally clear everything and slink out of the harbour into a force 3 head wind with sloopy seas.5 hours later arrive at our finger in Hyggen. Lots of fouls and errors but no damage.

Further adventures in and about Oslo
All the days are beginning to run together so I might miss something or get the order wrong but what the heck. Tues., morning July9, Dianne Leggatt arrives today. Up early do an engine check, find two sheared off bolts lying under the engine!! Discover that they're off the coupler. Couples the transmission to the propeller. 3rd bolt loose and bent! Can't get the pieces out, Have to take the v drive off oh joy. Get this all done and still can not get the ens of the bolts out. Carry it all uo to the office at the club. No one home, time slipping by before have to go to airport. Finally find Harbour master, He can't help''''''' but Mechanic on premises who can and does. So after two bits and some up sizing from english to metric I,m ready to reinstall.
Send Sally off alone to Oslo International to meet Dianne. Get everything back together and find I can not make a phone. So waiting to hear/from Sally.
Eventually Sally calls to say Dianne was not on the plane! Says she will wait for another flight. This goes on all afternoon. Finally decide she should come back to the boat. Sally hangs up. 5 minutes later Dianne calls she has landed! Advise her to get the train and meet us at Oslo City Hall. This happens 20 minutes before the last Ferry back to the Yacht Club.
Wed. I'm up early and ready to go....... Eventually we jump on the Ferry for the quick trip to Fram hus and Kon Tiki and the Marine museum. We do the 3 museums have lunch catch the bus and go to the Viking Ships. Then catch the Ferry to the Main land do the Nobel Peace museum get kicked out at 1800 do some shopping catch the boat get back to Kalinka1 cook dinner hit the hay and,,,,,,,,

Turns out I had pocket dialled my mum and used up all my minutes! Now have phone locked!!! Had lunch in a park. Walked to the Resistane Museum had a beer then dinner on board then out for Ice cream and that's all for bow.

Surviving a swim in Drammenfjorden and on to Oslo.
The last time I swam here I was 16 years old the water temperature has not gotten any warmer! Willey's probably gone for two months!!
Today Mon. July 8 Sally, Anne and I sailed into Oslo a distance of 42 miles which took us 8 hours. It turned out to be a motor sail as the wind went onto the nose shortly after we left the fjord. It was kind of eerie sailing over the grave of the German heavy cruiser Bluchere Sunk by Norwegian gunners off Drobek in 1941 with the loss of some 850 sailors. We arrived safetly at the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club and were assigned finger C20 Finger might be the right term at 375 per day. We then jumped on to a Ferry to the mainland where we met Oivin and Ruebin and went walk about the new harbour development. Toronto should be ashamed of itself for what it's done to ours!!
Here are some pictures as promised.
