In and running.

New beast confind and running!
Lets see and where to start.
Sally's sister and bros in law arrived on Fri., morning. had a good visit I went off to the boat and worked around.
The family showed up later in the day for the grand tour. then off home for a scrumptious dinner and one or two bottles of wine.
Sat, everyone kind of did they're own things I went to the boat and got some minor stuff done. Returned home and the Sally and I headed off to Longraid for a 40th birthday party theme of which was the big house. Not the canadian big house which is prison but the Irish big house which is a Castle, tower house or mansion. all kind of fit where the party was.
I know I know you guys just didn't think that I could hob knob with the Hoi Poloy. Well let me tell you after 4 drinks they all fall to my level so it all works!
The weekend was nothing but rain and cold no wonder Ireland is green except for the sheep and cows which have colours of their own.
But I digress, we were talking about up and running. Sooo getting there,,, Sunday we drove up to Dublin to visit Joyce who is Sally's favourite Aunt and is skiving off in the hospital. After wandering around inside said Hospital looking for Joyce and not being able to find her, someone asked a nurse. Go figure wouldn't you think that should have been the first thing we did? We eventually got to the right floor and ward and being a trained observer I was checking out all the rooms and spyed someone familiar who actually turned out to be?????? Yup Joyce. Had a great visit then did the looooonnnnng ddrrive back to Gorrie where we had dinner with Uncle D. ( those who don't know Uncle D is David Warren Sally's real uncle and mine by marriage. Lamb stew by the way. (actually the loser lambs as  the world sheep and lamb shearing competition was being held in Gorrie. Hurried up dinner as Allan and Heather( Sally's brother in law and sister) had to catch the boat back to Jolly old England. Sally and I were dropped off at the house Sally went off to visit Mum I veged A and H hared off to the boat made it in time and we assume they had an easy trip.
SSSSooooo now we get to Monday. also know as today. Up bright and early 0630 for me not so much for Sally. Breakfast off to the yachet Mechanic showed up around 130ish hooked up the exhaust stuff filled the engine with necessary fluids and then,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Vroooooooom,Vrooooooom sputter sputter whirrrrrrrrr vrooooooooom vroooooommm sputtttttter Vroooooooooooooooooooommmmm, vrooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom Hurrrrayyyyyy.. Did a bit with the prop and then changed into street going clothes in the canteen. found the last guiness and poured into a Beamish glass. I know I know you shouldn't mix glasses but what the heck it was the only one big enough. Was drinking that when the Kehoe bros arrived laughing because Sally was wandering around the yard looking for me! Now you have to know that I had observed Sally chatting up a sailor on a muscle boat that had just pulled into the dry dock so I felt pretty safe with Guiness. ( little did I know) Sally eventually found me enssconsed in the canteen with my guiness and Michael and Stephen with their Sider and red respectfully.
Sally really really wasn't upset! and she had a small red. the boys tyed me to the chair and force fed me re wine the beer was all gone. I eventually escaped and ran (not really Sally drove) home for dinner and for me to write this. Though I guess write is not the right term for typing away on a computer so to correct myself I comosted this. tomorrow we might be in the water or maybe not but I'll let you know.

Arrival and?

The Brand new shiny red engine arrived yesterday. It was delivered by a Great Blue Stork! Ok no stork but a big white van. Really really pretty.
We stood around admiring it for a while then went and got Stephen and the cherry picker. carefully lifted it out of the van, gingerly carried it next to the boat, slowly lifted it up and positioned it over the companion way. Then ever so gently lowered it into the boat without scratching the gleaming red paint. Some measurements were taken then the engine was slid out into the galley where it reposes in all it's splendour. Wasn't much more we could do so came home.
Sally who says she's feeling better (looks it to) cooked a nice ground beef and rice dinner then we fired up the old sewing machine and sewed some patches on our tarp. Had a whiskey or 2 then watched the idiot box and called it quits at midnight. (No witches around ).
This morning I was up early but the Princess wanted to sleep in so we didn't get away until  10ish. Arrived at the good ship Kalinka 1 and there was the engine right where we left it. I couldn't work inside the boat so I put the coveralls on and wandered around the yard supervising and making sure everyone else was working hard. Brian the mechanic arrived with his crew and mentioned that he really didn't need a supervisor and would be quite happy without one. I then went off and? Ha got you! had lunch Cream of veggie soup, with fresh mushrooms and  fresh bread. Nothing much else so we came home and sewed up the other two sections of tarp and turned a collar on my shirt and sewed it back on. What the heck the machine was right there.
Then the plumbers came to fix the ensuite, is that the same as an onsuite? So now we have all the water stuff working. Enjoying a cuppa so nuff for now but please stay tuned for the commercials.

Out and ????

Hello all. I left off with rushing out to see the new engine. Wellll havn't seen it yet but know it is in Ireland specifically Kilmore Quay. Don't really know how you kill a quay to begin with and to kill more?? Anyway back to the main subject whatever that was, have just had two hot whiskeys sooo, I digress. where was I? Ahhh Went to the good ship Kalinka1 on Fri. past and started the take down of the old engine in prep to remove it from the boat. All went well and I was able to remove the v drive and the Transmission  and uncouple all the connections (cut the wires). Undid the Mount nuts and got everything ready to go for Sat. We then cleaned up and rushed home to get Margaret to the Bus on time and go to Adrian's for 2000 hr dinner Ben in town so a right good evening!!!!
Oh for lunch on Fri we went to Kilmore Quay and had crab rolls UUUUUMMMMM good and we each had our own so I did't have to share!
Sat morning up bright and early and headed off to the yard undid some other stuff talked Michael into bringing the cherry picker over and we pulled the engine without a whole lot of issues. Once it was down on the pavement and after a celubratory beer  I put the engine back together. We then had a couple more celluuubrateery beers with Michael and Stephen and Sir Richard and Sally drove us home.
Toda ySally not well so I left her feeling sorry for herself and went off to see John and Caroll picked up some drugs and went off to Kalinka 1 to clean up and get ready for the new install. came home went to Dunns store for necessity's (Paddy and cloves, crunchies, maltesers and Terry's chocolate oranges).
Your now up to date I think?? Ohh attached are some pictures I hope.

Still here

Well here it is 2 weeks later. the boat is still on the hard sans engine and the winds have just been perfect for a passage up the Irish sea and across to Scotland and over to Norway. The new promised date for then engine is Friday. It's a good thing I hav'nt been waiting  for a baby! I'm also not holding my breath!! Both of us are still suffering :( from this @#$#@%^&$%#@!* cold. and the cold damp wet weather hasn't helped either it or my disposition. I'm just plain Grumpy as opposed to somewhat Grummpy. Just got a phone call from the engine manufacturer that the new engine has been delivered to the dealer. Whooppee unless of course it's just a cruel joke! I'll drive to the boat to check up on it after I finish writing this. Ok finished until the next time and as they say over ere TaTa.

Rain rain GO AWAY!!!

This weekend has been a repeat of last year with the exception that both Sally and I haave codes! and we're not feeling peachy keen and in fact I can't work up the energy to be grummpy! Tomorrow I'll make some phone calls to get the scoop on the motor and make the decision whether to wait or put the old one back together and use it. Drove down to the boat today as we were both getting a little shackwacky and needed to drop some stuff off and bring some stuff back to the house, We went out to the Hook for a drive and a coffee. coffee was excellent as we brought our own cream and sugar. Yesterday went to Johnstown Castle for a picnic and a visit to the Agriculture museum. Lots of old wagons, tractors, tools bicycles and furniture. good day had by all. Thats enough for today.

2014 Adventure

Well hello here we are again in not so sunny Ireland getting ready for the 2014 Cruise. We left Toronto on the 29th of April flying Air Canada Rouge. An easy flight watched 3 movies had a bottle of wine with dinner compliments of AC. Arrived at Heathrow at 07 something and then the fun began. Walk through security and immigaration then shuttle bus to another terminal then walk the serpentine through more security get the full body scan then some more serpentines to be told have to go upstairs for biometric more serpentine clock running out back down stairs through security once again more Iris scans ( can now see in the infra red spectrum) finally finish then walk 27 miles to the gate annnnnd the plane is delayed. sit around have a coffee then realize we're waiting in the wrong spot. Sooo a 12 mile walk to the right gate. wait some more and then get on the airoplane  fly to Dublin get off walk another 33 miles clear immigration and head to the Bus park.
There is a bus waiting. Problem no MC or Visa just cash. Sally off to a machine Bus can't wait sooo wait for the next one. sally no cash guess her days working the street are over. I went off to try my luck and success returned to the Bus yard and another bus arrived and away we went. easy ride to Wexford bus dropped us off at the door and we're here on April 30.
May 1. Off to check out Kalinka1 and remove the cover. All OK but new Motor has not arrived (bummer). Called the dealer problem with transmission delivery from Italy. double bummer so now we wait again. No pictures but your up to date.
