Monday April 25 2022. Episode 3 or sore knees and feet!!
The last up date was the new batteries had arrived....now the work to install and modify as needed our various systems. The battery charger we discovered was also toast or so we thought. May have been a loose wire, we needed a lithium charger for the new batteries so now we have that. Well we hope the photos tell the story, it was lots of in and out of lockers and passing of tools. Heather and Alan are busy at their home replacing flat roofs and getting an up graded kitchen. Martin the builder was helpful in getting new thick plywood to stop the contents of the cockpit sail locker from smothering the engine. The locker is very full with spare suit of sails, lines life jackets and wash boards. We met up with Adam and Olivia in London and saw their flat and Horniman Museum that is just down the road from where they live. Fabulous day feast of Tai food and great fun Alan did the driving. We were a bit on hold waiting for the battery charger. The life raft and our inflating life jackets were picked up for service so things were coming together. We then went by train on Monday to the British Museum.
Noel wrote this of our day: Today We got up earlier than usual had some toast and tea then strolled down to the train station to find out about a rail passes, did not think they were viable. Then caught the 0955 to London Pancreas Station started to walk to the British Museum got lost and took a cab!. The Museum was free got in first thing was to get a map! 2nd was to plan our route. Then off we went camera's at the ready. Rosetta stone, Assyrian Lions Egyptian sculptures, Parthenon marbles then up 3 floors to the Mummies , Roman Britain , Some middle East stuff then a coffee and carrot cake then to the Sutton Hoo, exhibit Iron age and Celtic then a small Viking exhibit. Then we tried to find our way out! Managed to find our way to China and then the Great Hall where we had a coffee with cream and sugar. Then a long slow pain full walk to a pub near the station then the 1755 to Rochester where Alan met us and drove our weary bones home. A cup of tea while I wrote this.
So all topped up on culture. Short week as Easter weekend was followed quickly by another bank holiday week end. The rigger was off on holidays so we kept tackling the list and hoped he would show up Tuesday. The solar panels arrived and the sun disappeared. We purchased semi flex do not walk on panels and then had fun figuring where to stow them, Too big for the V berth either against the hull or under the cushions. I figured if you can not walk on them then you can not sit on them even with a cushion between. Figured it out as you can see. They are really for keeping the fridge topped up when at anchor. Flat new batteries on with overcast days was too much. We needed a break from all this and to give Heather and Alan a break from us. We went by train to visit great pals Tony and Anne for the week end. What a great visit we had. Back on Monday and caught the end of the Rochester Sweeps festival so we saw the start on Saturday AM when we went down to the train and the last afternoon. Lots of fun.
The back rest split....we can re do this when we get back to Canada. Good for now.
We stow some tools below the v berth
More fixing
